Amendments in the gambling legislation in the USA will probably affect the UK industry

As the laws on online gambling in the United States of America might be amended, business affairs are getting more and more exciting for the UK and European gambling vendors and online casinos.

According to the Federal Law gambling in the USA is a legal form of business. But some differences exist regarding the online gambling in the different states. Each state is free to organize and control the activities within its borders. In some states there are stricter legal restrictions,  and other states have not got clearly definable legislation.

Some changes of the Laws connected with the online gambling will happen soon in the USA. The process might have some affect on the gambling industry in the other countries too.

It is considered that America has quite a liberal legislation in relation with the on land based casinos, card room and small-scale game business. But the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act passed in 2006 bans all forms of internet gambling. This Act had some negative result in many international gambling sites.

In states like Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware the laws have been recently changed and online gambling has been legalized. While California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington State need to apply more changes in their legislation.

In Pennsylvania, New York, and Michigan we can already see the positive result of the efforts for the legalization of online gambling. They have seen the obvious potential for revenue increase by this industry.

What could be the effect for the United Kingdom?

Bigger part in the UK gaming business is performed through online casinos. According to the UK Gambling Commission report from 2016, 33% of all gaming in Britain is performed online. This includes online casinos, betting exchanges, bingo, and pool betting. The UK laws connected with this industry are not seriously strict and banning relying on the fact that this is a massive  tool for revenue creation.

As a result many online casinos based in and around England have made a considerable progress in their development. If all these American states legalize their online gambling, the flow of gamblers will be oriented towards the sites based in America. The high numbers of users will increase the revenue for the country and the online casinos which are based there.

From the other hand the millions of players from the American states with recent legal online gambling could add more than four times the number of players in the UK. A growth of games development, increase of competition and a far better gaming community will be the positive result for the online casinos.
